Dust Control For Material Handling Operations

Material handling operations generate substantial airborne dust. When uncontrolled, this dust contributes to health and safety issues, high equipment maintenance costs, leading to penalties and a breakdown in community relations.

Our turn-key dust control solutions for material handling assist in optimising production, by significantly reducing the risks and downtime caused by excessive dust pollution.

We offer two distinct sprayer options to manage the dust generated during the materials handling process, namely Wetting Systems and Misting Systems.

Wetting Systems

Our low-pressure (< 10 bar), high water volume wetting systems are designed to discharge large droplets of water directly onto the material to completely saturate it and prevent dust from becoming airborne.

Our wetting systems are often used when a large amount of water is readily available, such as in areas with high rainfall or near bodies of water. The goal of high-water volume dust prevention is to reduce the amount of dust generated during the handling and processing of materials, by providing a constant and sufficient water supply to suppress dust.

Misting Systems

Our high-pressure (> 20 bar), low water volume misting systems designed to reduce the amount of airborne dust created during the materials handling process. Our misting systems disperse a fine atomised mist (1-10µm) which moistens the surface of the material being handled and captures airborne dust, bringing it back to the source.

Our high-pressure, low water volume misting systems are often used in situations where a large amount of water is not available or practical, such as in dry or arid regions, or when working with materials that are sensitive to moisture, and to reduce the risk of chutes and screens becoming clogged. The goal of our low water volume dust suppression is to reduce the amount of dust that is generated during the handling and processing of materials, while also minimising the use of water and the potential for water-related issues, such as erosion or runoff.

Many operations can benefit from implementing both types of dust control systems across their material handling operations.

The robust design of our dust systems, and stainless-steel nozzles, deliver corrosion resistant, industrial strength products that significantly reduce dust related problems.

Fog Cannons for Dust Control

Our fog cannons, also known as mist cannons, use highly pressurised water which, is pumped through a series of jet nozzles, turning the water into mist through atomisation.

The fine mist is dispersed into the air where it captures dust particles and drives them to the ground.

Fog cannons are a good choice for areas where visible dust is a major problem such as mine, demolition, and construction sites. They can also be used to disinfect large areas and infrastructure.

Highlights

  • Available in a variety of sizes with different throw ranges.
  • Can be fixed or oscillate horizontally or vertically.
  • Entire solution is portable and able to be moved around as dictated by requirements and weather conditions.

Our high-pressure misting canons are also used to treat airborne dust in hard-to-reach places like tips and warehouses.
